Breaks, Bracelets and Butterflies

Tonight's the last night of the holidays for me.
I've had a wonderful break from work
...it's been a fortnight that's been pretty much free of obligation. Bliss.
I haven't crafted much. I like to think that these periods when I'm not productive are times where I'm still being creative even though it's not apparent ~
I'm just incubating ideas (if that makes sense.)

I have a few pictures to show.
Here's a memory wire bracelet I made with Indian glass beads for a friend's birthday:

and the beginnings of a pair of Maine Morning Mitts:

(This is the first time I've knitted with double pointed needles. I used a video tutorial from Knitting Help.com to get started.)

Best of all,
the Monarch butterfly, which I wrote about in my last post, emerged,
spent an afternoon flexing its wings in my backgarden before flying away
and was quite happy to pose for photographs:

It's so beautiful.
I hope it comes back to visit!

Have a fabulous week, everybody.

Gorgeous pictures! Love the butterfly shots.

I know this is going to sound funny, but when you say "Indian Glass Beads" you do mean from India right? LOL, I realized that being from USA, I automatically think Native American Indians.

Ol' Christoper Columbus' mistake living on.

Hi Nan!
Yes, the beads are from India.
(I saw some Native American jewellery when I visited California and it was beautiful.)

All I could see was the gorgeous bracelet and all I could think was how clever you are and what good taste your friend had!!

When I first used DPN's I had a really hard time, but after a bit of practice it becomes super easy! The Maine Morning Mitts pattern looks like fun!

Hi, lovely things you have here. I really enjoy visiting your blog.

I´ve invented a "CHALLENGE" and I want to invite you to participate.

The challenge is to create a gift using your hands for any kid in the "Children's Day" that's on August 10th, and the rules are:

1.-To say to whom is going to be your present (example: for my son/ nephew/ neighbour, etc, Charles that´s 4 years old)

2.-To tell what the present it´s going to be (example: I´m going to make an afgan with the South Park characters)

3.-Upload a picture with the child and the present, the day he receives it.(you have till August 30th)

That´s all, you and your friends are very welcome .

The picture tha says "challenge" its the one with a kid and a bear if you one to added in case you accept.

Bye bye, from Chile
